Serving Victims of Domestic Violence/ Sexual Assault since 1987

PROMISE:

Personal Relationship Opportunities for Managing and Improving Self-Esteem

A self-help group targeted at women who are now or have been in abusive relationships. Focal points are:

  • How and why victims become involved in abusive relationships.
  • Increasing self respect.
  • Self-help
  • Independence
  • Breaking the cycle of domestic violence.

YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE ABUSED

Recurrent violence in abusive family situations is commonplace. Unfortunately, in these circumstances, the violence tends to become  more severe and sometimes even leads to the death of the victim.

We at Family Violence Prevention, Inc. believe abuse includes being punched, kicked, slapped, hit, having your hair pulled, being harassed, threatened, or dominated by another's degrading and controlling behavior. It also includes emotional and sexual abuse.

The simple fact is that domestic  violence is a crime, not a way of life. You, as the victim, are not personally responsible or to blame for the behavior or your abuser. Learn how to stop being a victim. Learn how to let go of the guilt and shame brought on by abusive situations. Learn how to let us help you become your own person through group therapy or one-on-one counseling. All services are free and confidential. If you feel you have need of our services, please let us help you. Know  that you do have the power to change your situation and that you have a place to go. Don't hesitate-come see us today.

Our purpose at Family Violence Prevention, Inc. is to provide services for the victims of domestic violence and to help educate the surrounding community about this devastating problem. We also assist individuals and families in working toward a solution to their problems.

We provide a local hotline, telephone contact and advocacy as well as private counseling and a group support system to victims of domestic abuse at no charge to victims. A shelter is also available for domestic violence victims.

Our goal is to help end the cycle of violence. Our programs strive to provide a total family treatment program. We help to strengthen individuals and their families so they may be able to help themselves. If we can be of help to you, or if you are interested in joining in our effort to enhance community awareness, please contact us for more information.
